Artistic Visions, Unique Designs and a Wide Variety of Techniques
Bring Contemporary Jewelry to Life
Artners Gallery features unique designer jewelry handmade by contemporary jewelry artists. Playful earrings, beautiful pendants, bold cuffs, unique rings, extraordinary brooches – all are handcrafted one at a time by remarkable artisans. The variety of designs and the breadth of techniques are truly amazing.
Many of the artistic designs are inspired by nature or the singular experiences of our artists. Other artful designs are full of vibrant colors and/or creative artistic expression. Some of our jewelry artists pay meticulous attention to the line and its ability to communicate emotion and states of mind, but others are more interested in combining fashion and art. Cheryl Eve Acosta finds inspiration from the ocean and aquatic life; So Young Park expresses the power of life through organic plant forms. What is behind the unique designs is almost as interesting as the designs themselves.
The techniques used to bring the designs to life are wide and varied. Examples include granulation, chasing, fabrication, engraving, casting, riveting, and oxidation. Amy Roper Lyons and Sheila Beatty refined the ancient technique of cloisonne enamel and Nancy Linkin perfected anticlastic raising to bend metal. Beth Farber weaves precious metal and gemstones into wearable art, Suzanne Schwartz stitches gold and silver wire on metal to create three-dimensional forms, Vivasmith fuses fine gold and fine silver to steel. Samantha Freeman even patented a technique to put on (or remove) her Jemloch earrings.
