Greek born jewellery designer and silversmith Maria Glezelli always wanted to pursue a career in fine arts. Her creative journey led her to the University of Fine Arts in Ioannina, Greece where she acquired a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and Art Sciences. At university, she experimented with different materials and techniques and explored the intersection between art and fashion. Fuelled by her love for ancestral craftsmanship and inspired by the panorama of Athenian history, Maria continued her studies in jewellery design and metalsmithing. After honing her skills in London and Tuscany and deepening her knowledge of manufacturing, gemmology, and design, she finally decided to focus entirely on her own unique brand. Today, Maria creates all of her jewellery with precision, artistry and distinctive craftsmanship entirely by hand from her workshop in Florence, Italy.

The Maria Glezelli brand is born out of Maria’s desire to design and make contemporary, intricate pieces of jewellery that combine wearability with visual beauty. Committed to preserving tradition, each piece is crafted entirely by hand out of sterling silver wire, without the use of any machinery, using a traditional Greek knitting technique passed down in her family through the generations. All of her work is plated with Platinum, Gold or Rhodium. Maria's approach to art through jewellery design pays homage to both ancient and modern narratives and classical Greek history. It is additionally fuelled by the diverse experiences she encounters in daily life.
