Mackenzie Law's Sterling Silver and 18K Gold Crown RingsMackenzie Law may have changed her name, but she didn’t change her attention to detail or precise craftsmanship. Mackenzie was drawn to the lasting nature and nearly infinite possibilities in metal after beginning her career as an illustrator. Inspired by baskets, textiles, ceramics and surface patterns from different parts of the world, she became fascinated with weaving fabric from metal after experimenting with wire braids. Gradually she incorporated French passementerie and Native American basketry techniques into her designs. Her meticulous work often leads people to conclude that she uses a machine, but she actually only uses a vice and a small mallet. Environmentally conscious, Mackenzie only works with recycled materials and chooses her metals based on their working properties and color. She often uses stainless steel to create intricate designs that would not be possible in any other metal.
