Contemporary jewelry artist Sheila Beatty is inspired by nature and creates wearable pieces of art. Her stylish Silver Strands Earrings, which are ½” in diameter and 1 5/16” long, are handmade using the basse taille technique. Texture is imparted to bases of fine silver and then covered with many layers of transparent enamel, each fired in a kiln at a high temperature. Black pigment enhances the underlying texture, creating the look of shimmering silver threads. The enamels are contained in sterling silver settings and enhanced with tiny freshwater pearls.
