Contemporary jewelry artist Sheila Beatty is inspired by nature and creates wearable pieces of art. Her stylish Silver Strands Necklace, which is 5/8” in diameter, is handmade from vitreous enamel and fine and sterling silver using the basse taille technique. A textured silver base is covered with multiple thin layers of transparent enamel, each fired in a kiln at a high temperature. The underlying texture is enhanced with black pigment, creating the illusion of glittering silver threads. Opalescent and opaque enamels enhance the design. The enamel is framed in a sterling silver setting with a choice of a 16” or 18” sterling silver chain.
